Brief & Context
Set within a growing Ecovillage on the Central Coast, this prefabricated two-bedroom home establishes a grounded, protective atmosphere while remaining open to landscape and community. The architecture balances shelter and outlook, shaping a calm domestic environment that supports everyday life within a shared ecological setting.

Challenge & Intent
The primary challenge was coordinating a pre-purchased prefabricated wall and roof system with a very steep site while meeting Ecovillage design and performance requirements. The layout was carefully adjusted to suit a single-parent household, integrate off-street covered parking and storage, and ensure the building could be efficiently delivered and assembled without compromising comfort or future flexibility.

Lifestyle & Experience
An open kitchen, living, and dining area forms the social heart of the home, encouraging relaxed daily routines and connection to the surrounding community. Bedrooms are positioned to maintain privacy while opening the living spaces toward north-facing sunlight and Ecovillage views. A raked ceiling increases internal volume, enhances daylight, and strengthens the relationship between indoors and outdoors, while the robust plan allows adaptation as family needs evolve.

Prefabricated insulated wall and roof panels enable precise construction and reliable thermal performance on a challenging site. Double-glazed windows regulate comfort and light, and rendered, painted walls provide a durable, low-maintenance finish that sits quietly within the landscape. Integrated landscaping extends living spaces outward, reinforcing a sense of belonging within the Ecovillage setting.
