This project comprises 34 social housing dwellings in Claymore, NSW. The brief involved the design of two- to five-bedroom homes that respond sensitively to the existing neighbourhood character and contribute positively to the local streetscape.
All dwellings have been designed in accordance with the Livable Housing Design Guidelines – Gold Level, prioritising adaptability and long-term usability. The homes are capable of accommodating occupants with disability, ageing residents, people with temporary injuries, and families with young children, ensuring inclusive and flexible living environments.
The design principles also support a prefabrication-ready approach, with dwelling layouts, structural grids, and repetition of components carefully considered to suit off-site manufacturing. This strategy enables improved construction efficiency, quality control, reduced on-site disruption, and shorter delivery timeframes—key benefits for large-scale social housing projects.
Our Lab was responsible for the architectural design response for the tender, including coordination of design intent with construction methodology.
